The Douro Vinhateiro, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is one of Portugal’s most picturesque and celebrated wine regions, where centuries of winemaking tradition blend seamlessly with breathtaking landscapes.  

Carved by the majestic Douro River, the region is characterized by its iconic terraced vineyards that cascade down steep hillsides, creating a stunning tapestry of greens and gold that change with the seasons. 

Visitors can embark on a journey through this historic wine country by boat, train, or car, stopping at traditional Quintas (wine estates) to taste world-renowned Port and Douro wines straight from the source.  

Discover the intricate process of winemaking, tour age-old cellars, and enjoy wine-pairing experiences that highlight the region’s unique flavours. 

Beyond its rich viticulture, the Douro Vinhateiro is also a haven for nature lovers and cultural enthusiasts.

Your Accommodation: 

The house at the first Quinta is dated 1820 and is located in Poiares, the Quinta’s land is in three locations: Abaças, Galafura and Covelinhas. 

In the years 1920 to 1950, the land had a location that went from 70 meters altitude up to 450 meters, produced in addition to wine, cereals, maize, rye, and barley for the manufacture of bread and food for the animals. 

The transformation of grapes into wine is done using the knowledge left by their ancestors. Its stage, storage is made in French oak barrels and stainless steel vats. Always adapting their production to new technologies, without forgetting the most traditional methods of wine production in the demarcated region of the Douro. 

Boasting a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, garden and views of the mountain, the Hotel is situated near Peso da Regua.  

There is a sun terrace and guests can make use of free WiFi, free private parking and an electric vehicle charging station. 

At the guest house, some rooms have a private entrance, dining area, fireplace and microwave.  

Some of the rooms have a satellite flat-screen TV, a fully equipped kitchenette with an oven, and a private bathroom with a walk-in shower and a hair dryer.  

The restaurant at the guest house specialises in a variety of local food and dinner options inside a historic building. 

The second Quinta, located in the heart of the demarcated Douro region, is one of 13 manor houses in Provesende that tell the story of the great Port wine producers.  

Surrounded by terraces planted with vines and olive trees, the Hotel offers a comfortable and refined journey back to the 17th century.  

Recovering the spaces of the old stables and agricultural warehouses of the farm, has eight rooms that, in contrast with the old manor house from the 17th century, offer all the comfort of the 21st century to the visitors of the house, either in the sunny summer days or in the cold winter nights 

At Manor, the value is in the detail. From the embroidered sheets to the colours of the rooms or the colourful ceilings, the identity of the house is present in everything.  

At the table, the meals prepared with port wine vinegars, olive oil and organic products harvested from the farm’s vegetable garden raise the experience to a higher level. 

Activities included in Package: 

Barco Rabelo Trip – Ride aboard a rabelo boat, typical of the Douro Vinhateiro region, which traditionally transported barrels of port wine to Vila Nova de Gaia. The views are spectacular and the experience will take you to the roots of the traditional wine transport in Douro.

Dinner with Wine Tasting – A 3-course dinner with a taste of 3 exclusive Douro wines and 2 Port wines. Enjoy meat and cheese starters, accompanied by some seasonal options, bread and our local olive oil. At the beginning of each course, each wine is introduced and an explanation about the tradition, grapes, and pairing is given by the host. After the introduction and tasting, each wine is served to pair with the meal.

Natural Wine tasting – visit a local Vineyard that produces wines naturally. It is a unique opportunity to taste a completely different profile of the Douro Wines.

Dinner by candlelight with Wine Tasting – dinner will be served either in one of the halls of the main house by candlelight, or outside surrounded by the vineyards in the Summer. A 3-course dinner with a taste of the exclusive Calcada Wines, including white and red wines.

Wine Tasting at the Quinta – visiting the winery, and taking them to see all the wines. The visit also includes a visit to the barrel cellar, where the best wines age. At the end, taste a selection of wines from Quinta da Estrada, including white and red wines and gourmet products such as jams and olive oil.

Provesende Wine Trail with Boat Trip – Then walk with me in this amazing and unique landscape classified in UNESCO World Heritage since 2001, we will walk through vineyards, centenary olive fields, shale terraces, and Family Wineries owned for centuries, and you will experience natural cork in the nature, amazing valleys and rivers, fantastic viewpoints over Douro Valley, you have to experience this breathtaking and unparalleled natural scenery.

Learn how to make traditional bread – Spend time with the local Baker and learn how to make the traditional bread from the Douro Region.

Optional Activities:

Pinhao- Momento Experiencia £120 – Off the path Viewpoints, Ideal for photography lovers. This visit through the idyllic Douro will take you to 3 outstanding viewpoints. Visit one Vineyard with a wine tasting and the chance to walk and explore the Vineyard. A typical lunch at a local restaurant will take you to experience the traditional food of the region. You will also visit important monuments and will end with a boat trip on the Douro River.

Porto full day £ 75 – Visit Porto Historic Centre and immerse in the traditions and history of this extraordinary city. A boat ride will take you through the Porto 6 Bridges and you will see the city and the river in a unique way. This amazing experience includes a Port Wine cave visit with wine Tasting. You will be able to do a 50-minute Tuk Tuk Tour, having another opportunity to visit the city. You will also receive 1 Day City Sightseeing Bus Tour ticket to enable you to explore even more. Lunch is not included in this experience.
